| National Educational Systems, Inc. has the distinguished honor of having Dr. G. Reid Lyon act as an independent reviewer for The Magic of Learning™ School Readiness Kits. Over the past three decades, Dr. Lyon has had a wide range of professional responsibilities including his contributions as a research scientist, professor, classroom teacher, special education teacher, neuropsychologist, school psychologist and leader in the development of evidence-based education policy at federal and state levels. From 1992 to 2005, Dr. Lyon served as a research psychologist and the Chief of Child Development and Behavior Branch within the National Institute of Child health and Human Development (NICHD) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) where he was responsible for the direction, development and management of research programs in developmental and cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology, behavioral pediatrics, reading development and disabilities, learning disabilities, early childhood development and school readiness. |

Dear NES,
I am pleased to announce that NES got our unanimous vote!!!
(September 2009) I took the 3 vendor bids and materials information sheets to
my Early Start Team (the foundational group for our grant) and had them rate
each kit. The team consisted of 3 administrators, 4 teachers, 1 speech
therapist, 1 day care director, 1 early childhood facilitator, and 1 parent. We
rated the kits in the areas of: writing, phonics, letter knowledge, language
development, math, science, listening, number of books, amount of materials,
other: ____, and total value for cost (And the vote was taken before the raters
took into consideration that we get free training sessions from NES as well!)
The next day, I met with our Early Childhood Group (9 Pre-K
teachers, 1 PPCD teacher, and 1 three year old class teacher). They were
pleased with the NES kit as well, mainly about the amount of materials and
number of books they will be getting.
Thanks for all of your help! I am happy that we will be collaborating
and working together! I also wanted to say that I appreciate the fact that you
reached out to us and helped educate me on the availability of the vendors for
the kits.
